The Strap-Ons (AKA The Strapons, AKA The Strap Ons, AKA The Stray Ponys) formed originally in 1996 as the pimps in Norfolk VA.

“I remember going over to Joe George’s house and he said he wanted to form a band and he already had the riff to 'My Dad Smokes Crack' and some other songs. Soon after the original lineup of Joe, Bill, myself, Chris and Ruben were playing gigs at local bars.

The band was being sued by Walt Disney Records who had a band on their roster who had trademarked the name The Pimps out from under us. There was a lot of tear jerking and fretting before we decided to take on the name The Strap-Ons." - idle edsel

The band did two US tours with former Misfits drummer Joey Image.

“Joey would tell us stories about when him and Glenn and Bobby would steal carpeting to pad up Bobby’s mom’s garage and how they would walk through subway tunnels to get to Manhattan because they couldn’t afford subway tokens.

We put out The Stray Ponys EP and finally had a band name our parents couldn’t shame us with.” - idle edsel
